Jess, this is The One.

for those of you who were not aware (and those of you who care) Jess and i have cancelled the comic 'Generation' as it stands - a comic about us and our friends at school as superheroes - and have begun the long process of revamping it in preparation to pitch it to a tv station as a cartoon series.

as such, we changed and axed the characters as we saw fit. as you may guess from the title, these are the girls, and the guys' poster will be up... just as soon as i draw and color it.

so here's the new line-up;

Mercury
Can affect magnetic fields around metals (so can only manipulate magnetic metals), and can change the arrangement of metal molecules and therefore its shape and density.
The leader. She is an obsessive planner: bossy, sharp and direct, she uses as few words as possible to get her point across.
She is very smart but can never understand what people are saying when they're being subtle. She is difficult to ruffle or surprise, and can be seen as insensitive but is just trying to be pragmatic most of the time.
She sees their lives as superheroes as a massive responsibility and gets annoyed when others (especially Nova) goof off.
She tries to explain everything scientifically and takes everything literally. She doesn’t understand jokes or sarcasm. She hates lying, and hates liars.
Mercury is the most technical of the girls: at school she excelled at electronics and Design Tech. and installs all the technology on the Island (where they live in an old bomb shelter) along with Haze (the only other one of the rest with any technical know-how whatsoever).
Inside she is incredibly happy to have finally found people she can relate to, as generally people have steered clear of her and her of them.

Atlanta
Controls the kinetic energy and motion of liquid molecules (can make liquids boil or freeze by increasing or decreasing the molecules' kinetic energy). Her body is 97% water-based, which allows her to turn into water in its liquid state.
The second in command. Sarcastic and witty, smart, observant, and quick to figure things out on very little information. She can be a little grouchy but is generally quite easy-going and tends to talk a little like a hippie.
She cracks jokes constantly - usually very bad, sarcastic ones; superhero one-liners.
Atlanta is not afraid to show her feelings and yell at or punch anyone annoying her.
She gets on well with Mercury – though she considers strategy a waste of time and gets annoyed when Mercury tries to get them to follow a set plan.
She is sort of the mother of the group, as one of the most responsible but also the most personable (i.e. not Mercury). Atlanta is the one her friends go to with their problems or for comfort.
She can be subtle and suave when she wants/needs to be: the most diplomatic of the group, she is usually the one to talk to politicians, policemen or anybody in any sort of authority rather than Mercury since Mercury can be too blunt and offensive, and downright scary.

Haze
Can bend light around solid objects (invisibility) and can also change the frequency of photons until they create solid planes (forcefields).
Haze is the baby of the group (not by choice). Shy and easily embarrassed, caring and empathetic, she is nevertheless very independent.
She hates it when people automatically assume she needs help, and is very opposed to being the damsel in distress – but usually is (because her non-physical power makes her an easier target than the others) and gets very annoyed and indignant. She does not mind getting dirty though she often despairs later over how to clean her costume.
For some reason she is irresistible to any male they encounter, but is oblivious to this (much to the other girls' amusement).
She is intelligent, though tends not to think overly much as there are others in the group (namely Mercury and Atlanta) who do their thinking and planning.
She is quite good with machines and technology, second to Mercury in the group. She enjoys tinkering with and improving existing appliances rather than building anything from scratch, and can be very inventive in thinking of ways to improve stuff around the Island. Mercury built the belts with a radio built in but it was Haze who gave them a screen and a tracking system.
Haze is the least likely one to run into battle and will generally be quietly figuring a way to take out their opponant from behind or within while the others tire themselves out.

Nova
Converts energy into different types; this exhibits itself mostly as electrical energy from light from the sun (making her weaker at night and necessitating creativity in finding new sources of energy), though she frequently uses gravitational potential energy to fly.
Cheerful and energetic, Nova tends to leap before looking, and blurt out stupid things on a regular basis.
However, she has very good instincts - if she has a bad feeling you should probably be running. She loathes unnecessary/'boring' exercise or intensive thought.
She is pretty much constantly hyper. Sometimes she annoys people by being so happy, but when she tries to relax it just doesn't work.
She often makes vast leaps of thought that leave everyone around her confused; then she has to explain. She hates explaining anything and is useless at it. Her idea of a good explanation is generally: ‘well, just cause.’
She is not a sugar addict per se, but does not handle sugar well – and the others generally try to keep her off it.
She sometimes has violent mood swings (especially after consuming any kind of sugar) and can be easily upset or offended. She usually reacts violently when agitated.
She enjoys a little rough-and-tumble when fighting. She figures if they’re going to fight someone they might as well completely kick their butts.

Flare
Can create and sustain spontaneous combustion and fission of molecules. Can change intensity of combustion to generate heat, flame or an explosion.
Flare, as a rule, is lazy, but easily riled. She does not understand the concept of 'subtlety' and gets very defensive and snappy when angered.
She enjoys exercising and working out, playing games (video games with Cyclone and tag etc. with Nova) and generally having fun or just chilling out.
She thinks restraint is a waste of time (to the others' chagrin), and figures if you aren’t going to give 100% there’s no point in bothering at all.
She can be a little scatty or forgetful if she does not consider something important enough to commit to memory.
Flare is the one who will shoot into battle, fists blazing, and make a big mess (though usually gets the job done somewhere in the process).

Cyclone
Can create and affect currents in gases by shifting the molecules. Can heat or cool gases (though once the gas has condensed into a liquid she can no longer affect it).
Cyclone is very calm and unruffled. She only gets angry when her friends are endangered – never otherwise. She is closest to Atlanta - they see each other as sisters.
She very much enjoys doing things with her friends – especially playing video games with Flare and cooking weird and wonderful things with Haze (and then testing their concoctions on the others).
Sometimes her 'witty' comments are a little too nasty, and people often confuse her with what they do or say unless they explain themselves.
She hates sport – considers it useless, boring, and a great method of getting people to laugh at her. She is paranoid of looking like an idiot – though she almost never does – and does not take teasing well. She takes everything people say completely to heart, despite Atlanta’s frequent reminders that people often do not mean things and that she needs to be less sensitive.
